# Cross Street Jewellery School

> A professionally equipped jewellery teaching studio in Hove, East Sussex, UK. Founded in 2005 by jeweller and tutor Laila Smith, the school welcomes beginners through to advanced students to learn silversmithing and jewellery making by the sea.

## About

Cross Street Jewellery School was established in 2005 by Laila Smith, who has been teaching jewellery craftsmanship since 1999. Laila previously taught at art colleges along the south coast and also teaches short courses at West Dean College. She continues to design and make her own jewellery collections alongside running the school.

The studio is housed in a historic 100-year-old building in Hove, just five minutes from the beach, which previously served as woodworking and French polishing studios. After 17 years at its original address the school relocated one door down the street.

The school's ethos is summed up in its tagline: **"Make a Little Sparkle by the Sea."**
